Kontrapunkt was commissioned by Shiseido to create a name, visual identity and signage system for their prestigious museum of beauty and Global Innovation Centre in Yokohama, Japan. Our goal was to create a strong narrative and a visual framework which was distinctive in expression yet worked as a mediator for the other designers and architects. This required an expression that was stringent, yet flexible enough to allow for diversity and creativity. The curved signage harmonises with shapes in the logo, custom typeface, and pictograms, creating visual alignment and cohesive expression throughout the museum experience. The project has collected design awards at Kukan and DFA.
